29/10/09 - Santa Dash Deadline Extended
There is still time to sign-up for the inaugural Co-operative Santa Dash, after the deadline to enter was extended beyond 31 October.
Thousands of Santas are expected at Sportcity – home of Manchester City – at 9.30am on 29th November, for the 5-kilometre event, which is raising money for RNID, the charity for deaf and hard of hearing people.
Entry to the Santa Dash costs £15 for adults and £12 for juniors [aged 8-12], which includes a five-piece Santa outfit. Every entrant will receive a medal commemorating their participation and the run will be timed by computer chip to ensure accurate finishing times. All entrants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and all runners are asked to raise as much as they can for RNID.
To register for the event visit www.co-operativesantadash.co.uk, and for more information call 0161 703 5806.

Notes to editors:
RNID is the charity working to create a world where deafness or hearing loss do not limit or determine opportunity, and where people value their hearing. We work by campaigning and lobbying, raising awareness of deafness and hearing loss, promoting hearing health, providing services and through social, medical and technical research.
The Co-operative Group is the UK's largest mutual retailer, with over 4,000 trading outlets, 5 million members and more than 120,000 employees. Its major businesses include food retail, financial services, funerals, healthcare and travel, together with property, farming, consumer legal services and motor dealerships. In addition, the society operates the on-line electrical retailer, The Co-operative E-store. Unlike many large organisations, the Group is owned by its consumer members and seeks to return a share of its profits to the people who trade with it. Becoming a member costs just £1 and, under the profit share scheme, members earn points on their trade with all the Group's businesses. These points are converted into a share of profits and paid out twice a year. For further information about The Co-operative, visit www.co-operative.coop
